    Leopard 4074/30" Hydro setup

    Hi all,
Long time forum browser, lots of good info here...finally decided to post!

Since I am still somewhat new to FE boats (2 years/2 fe bl hydros-12 years in electric rc total) I would like some feedback on the following power setup of my next hydro. I am looking for 4-5min @ 50-55mph (boat is for sport running, not racing)

31" fiberglass hydro hull from HORRacing.com
    6s2p A123 (19.8v/4500mAh/2.5lbs)- (too heavy for above hull size/motor?)
Leopard 4074-2000kv (would a lower kv be more appropriate?)
CC Mamba Monster converted to marine use (22v/130A continuous)
Octura x640 (too much prop to start off with on this setup?)

    Any input/advice is appreciated!
    Have a nice day...
    Regards,
    K. Schram

I think you need to be closer to 1500-1600kv on 6s unless your doing very short burst saw type running. Thanks Martin.

Since they are A123 cells it will be closer to 5s, might still be a little hot on a 2000kv motor but I honestly don't think The A123 cells put out the power that a Lipo will so it might be ok. I think it will still be to hot of a setup to run anywhere near 5 minutes with though.

This is a bigger heavier hull, one in my avatar that's upside down. Easy 4+ minutes, 36" aeromarine team believer cat with a Neu 1527 1Y, 1250 KV, 6S2P, Hydra 240LV esc, X447/3 prop at 58 mph

Yeah the A123s are ultimately going to hold it back, they are low capacity for their weight...but they can be charged in 15min, much more durable & affordable than lipo. I have 24 of these cells left over from an old RC truck project so I'd still like to use them somehow.
Raydee, A123 M1 cells in 2p configuration will handle 150A cont./250A burst, definitely no lack of power, just heavy compared to lipo. 6s A123 is indeed close to 5s lipo, about one volt higher at rest. Not sure how their voltages compare under load though...
Maybe going 1p & keeping the amp draw around 70A cont./120A>15sec. with an overall lighter setup is the better way to go here...at the expense of run time however. lol
          same hull
          6s1p A123 (19.8V/2300mAh)
          Leopard 3674-1700kv
          same esc
          x637

Maybe 3-4min run time @ full bore?
