The twin wing Bud is not the best hull for FE, although it looks cool. Due to the shape and configuration it is difficult to get the CG far enough forward to make it run well. Packs have to be "built in" not allowing easy removal. It is also more difficult to tape up and keep dry. One club member tried to run this hull for six months and was never happy with it. He bought a PT SS45 and loves it, a far better choice.

hull= $325
NEU 2215 with jacket= $525
New Schulze 40-160= $650
Motor Mount, Turn Fin, All Hardware, Flex, High Torque Digi servo= $300 anyway..
fancy paint job= priceless... :)
I traded it for a Brand New HPR 115 Hull/Hardware/Motor Mounts hybrid layup, but I needed to do the legwork to get the hpr so he would let me buy the pt45ss...
So basically all over $1300... and a bunch of time working out the hpr purchase...I figure I stole it !!!
Lots of guys run 1527's though, I imagine with somewhat careful spending one could build a pt45ss for around $1500...Comment

yes very solid hulls..... all of my phil thomas hulls feel that way... I guess they should be for what you pay for the hulls too... but they are a beautiful boat no question.... my phil thomas stealth I bought from Rumdog "sold" me on Phils boats... you certainly won't be unhappy with your purchase...Comment

No not 45", its made for a glow ignition internal combustion engine of .45 cubic inch / 7.5cc displacement.
I raced against a H&M 1/10th twin wing last year in the Supercat class which has been opened up to scale hydros, to its credit it looked truly stunning on the water, and he had no problem getting cells in and out but he did have to add lead to the tips of the sponsons to balance it and thus my MM (I wrecked my 36"cat just before the race and had to transplant all the gear into the little MM to compete) was faster but just too small to cope with the bloody great holes he was carving in the water during the turns and after losing the first heat badly to trimming in I wasn't able to claw back enough to take the victory. Race speeds were about 50 and it would either need aero work or 2p to keep it on the water at 62, and I have no idea if 2p will fit, were limited to 280g/7.4v here.Paul Upton-Taylor, Greased Weasel Racing.Comment

im actually considering the 1/8th scale u10 smokin joes from phil t. i spoke to hime about 30 min ago. he said the ptss45 is a 30" hull which almost made me cry. my goal is to find a large hydro hull anywhere over 37". heck ill even take a full size hydro (if its at an rc price range lol)If the #2 pencil is the most popular, why is it still #2?Comment
