    EP1 propeller shaft!

Well we dropped our Cat over the weekend and bent the propeller shaft on at least one of the units!

Now are you ready for this ---- acccording to great planes product support the shaft isn't available seperately! In the exploded view found in the owners manual it has an item # assigned to but no Part# !!!!!!!!!!

Only way to get it is buy a new EP1 Now doesn't this suck!!!!!!!

I've had 3 ep-1's and all fell and bent their shafts so I had to make some out of of rods from the LHS I believe 3mm or 4mm anyway I had to put a die on it to get the threads, worked great then I upgraded to a 3/16 shaft the ocutra one i think it's the 4mm to 3/16th kit. GP is lousy when I comes to that EP1 first the brass gears are a poor design for any serious power and replacement parts...otherwise they would of had a killer product. I bought sets of gears from steve already....

I bent the propshaft on mine simply by tightening the prop nut a bit too hard. I bent it back to as straight as I could get it. The prop shaft does bend easily.

Its the unfortunate part of owning these. But the shafts are usually not the problem. The gears are, and we have an aftermarket source for those.

What is the source for aftermarket gears I have had one with stripped gears for like a year.

What are these made out of? Hopefully not brass but anything is better than nothing! I put brushless in mine and toasted the original gears. I called aquacraft and the sent me a whole new motor free! so that one has remained brushed, so far.
