I think most people use bullet plugs, I do too. I have 5.5mm ones on my lower amp setups, and for my current high amp setup I will try to get some 6mm LMT bullets. They have the least resistance and deliver over 200a. There are also the 8mm bullets here at OSE which a lot of people use all around on all of their boats.

I use 8mm on all my larger (5000mah battery) boats and Deans on my smaller boats. But if I were starting over, I'd use the new EC5 connectors instead of Deans. I just have too many to re-solder!

I would use a minimum on 5.5's on everything, unless its an HV set up.

I rock Hk 5.5's as well or if HK is out of them Ebay ones.

To stop the ends from possibly touching and short out the battery I place 1 large shelfing end cap on the + wire which should be a female plug. These large caps fit the female perfect I got mine at Home Depot http://www.amazon.com/ClosetMaid-Lar.../dp/B000GKSMCM
