i suppose your talking about this motor

hahaha yeah thats the one!
It still would be interesting to try it.
as its 6 Pole does this mean it would be much lower heat than a 4 pole or not that much?
Im still using the motor that came with my genesis with 4S 2P and with T180, but changed the prop (basically same size but copper) and had a great run this morning!Comment

Anything is better then the stock motor. That motor listed looks great, but not for the genesis IMO. Go bigger 4082 1500kv will motivate that hull very nicely on 5s or 6s! http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...o-4082&cat=148, I'm sure steve will have some in stock soon. If you want 4s a 4074 2200kv or 1774kv would also be better then the HK motor in the genesis as well JMO of course http://www.offshoreelectrics.com/pro...o-4074&cat=148Comment

If i stick with the 4074 I shouldnt need to move too much around, but if i went to the 4082 wouldnt I have to remove all the mounting hardware? the stock motor barely fits under the hatch,
I would want to stick with 4s packs, because I can use them in other RC things I have.
OSE want $20 for shipping a motor to AUS, but yeah sort of gets a bit expensive when the other stores are selling for like $90 shipped..
I took it out today and it ran great!Comment

Maybe ebay you can get better shipping. Im sure a 4082 will work just fine in terms of fitting under the hatch. Here's the motor I had in my Genesis that fit with no problemLast edited by Diesel6401; 01-15-2011, 08:43 PM.Comment

Glad I posted that question so you could take over the thread with your question. Still asking what is the difference between the different poles. I currently have Feagio 9 turn and now a UL1 the differenece is the UL is 4 pole and the Feagio is 2 pole. The 2 pole spins freely and the 4 pole you feel a pulse as you spin it. How do each work? Does the 2 pole work off the power to engage the magnets is this why it spins freely? Thank You JerryComment

Coutersy of ReddyWatts
For a 4 pole motor with 3 stator coils, the controller will energize a stator coil 6 times in each revolution.
For a 6 pole motor with 3 stator coils, the controller will energize a stator coil 9 times in each revolution.
4 pole energizes every 60 degrees.
6 pole energizes every 40 degrees.
The more poles the motor has gives it more torque for pushing larger hulls, weight and props. While using less amps, since they are more effecient.
A 4 or 6 pole motor is more forgiving than a 2 pole when accidently over propped. The current surges are not as high

Ul1 motor is a 6 pole motor. The number of poles means the number of magnets. Don't rely on just cogging to determine the quality of the motor. A lot of neu's and CC motors are 4 pole, ul1 motor & blackjack motors are 6 pole it Doesn't make them better or more effcient then a Neu because the have more pole. The ammo 2300 is a 2 pole but a very nice little motor Lehner 30 series motors are 2 poles and their also top of the line. Don't let number of poles make you think the motor is better it all depends on the materials used to build it and the tolerences. !
Good find Douggie!Comment
