Jeff and I have had several phone conversations on how this boat should be designed and layed out. Of course, Jeff already had an idea how the boat should be designed since he has plenty of experience. Most of my input was on what bad habits we don't want this boat to have. I will be over-powering this boat - my first motor will be a 1527 1/2Y. I've also been thinking about having a 2220 Neu motor 1/2Y built (around 2400 rpm per volt). The motor may be a little heavy for this hull. I'm pretty sure Jeff will design hardware for this boat. I should have plenty of time to get this boat running before our season starts in March.
Tony,Another very nice hull from Jeff, he does some good work. .Let me know when the prototype is ready for testing, I would like to see that hull in action. I just love watching a well made mono carving a high speed turn. Have a good one bud.
I will have my 1527 1d in this boat as soon as I get one. I also look forward to building and testing this boat and will offer those that don't want to build there own my build services. Were trying to get electric boat racing going again down here in southern cal. and this new boat along with the FE 30 is going to help. Stay tuned for the videos to follow.
I don't understand the 'scoop' on a FE boat canopy. It's not like it's a scale model of a petrol version. It might look groovy, but serves no real purpose - and is detracting from an otherwise aerodynamic hull design (my opinion). That's just a pet peeve of mine, I don't mean to hurt any feelings here. Maybe make an optional FE hatch without the scoop for purists and speed demons. Very nice sleek hull design. Good job!

I personally encouraged Jeff to have a sleek looking scoop on the hatch during the design stage to appeal to the visually-driven buyer. While of no real purpose for the hardcore racer, Insane Boats, as a business, is correct in producing designs that appeal to all segments of the market - a large segment being (let's be honest here) those who "buy with their eyes" - myself included

I'll admit, as far as scoops go that is one sexy scoop to be sure. Like an Italian design pistol or car. And right now it's all design and marketing. If it takes off (and I can see that happening) I wouldn't be surprised if someone offered an aftermarket scoopless canopy. Again, good job.
I'm by no means anti scoop. I also do not think that scoop will slow the boat down by any means.
However, I think it would look better without it.
That being said.... when can I buy one?! I want it!!

Where is the challange in that Mark? Most folks could make a 2x6 haul @$$ with the 1527.
Good luck with the build, testing.
