UL1 motor upgrade to Leopard 4074

Ive got a Leopard 4074 2200kv motor im not useing at the moment, Would this motor be a suitable upgrade in the UL1 or would it be to much in this hull. If it would be a good upgrade how much faster should it be than the stock motor & what size prop should it take with the Leopard. Will be useing 4s lipos & assume the esc also would need changing, What size esc would be needed with this set up. Or would their be not much point in doing this & stick with the stock motor & esc as i believe the stock motor & esc are not bad bits of kit. Thanks Martin.

It would be a nice upgrade! Not too much in my opinion................it'll get you into the mid 50's for sure...................... I run a 2200 with a Turnigy 120a ESC in my pursuit mono with an x442.......does fine.

Ive already got a HW Seaking 120amp esc that i could use with the leopard motor. Does the UL1 run better on 3 blade props or 2. Thanks.

Dont quite know.................my buddy has the same exact setup and runs an x440 on his, a hydro will have less "drag" so it should be kinder on amp draw.........if he doesnt overprop he should be fine imo............although, i'm not quaranteeing that, if he feels he should go bigger, get a T180. This is just based on my personal setup.

Dana, you'll want to run a bigger prop than a 442 in that mean machine to take advantage of the torque of the leopard 2200. My guess is since the leopard is rated @ 120amps, the t-120 is running at its max. and the 442 is not working the motor very hard. In your case you'll be happier with a prop in the 45mm range(445,545,645) and the t-120 would likely overheat with those props. JMO!

The leopard will be too much for the ul-1.
