I have used a marine grade anti-seize before made by loc-tite with good results.

I'm sure I'll get dogpiled for this, but I just use wheel bearing grease I had on my shelf; Castrol, I think. I bent the cable into a "U", sunk it into the little bucket, spun it a few times, then slowly spun it as I removed it. Then stuck the cable into the tube and wiped off the excess grease. If it's good for wheel bearings to go 50k miles, I figured it's good for 4-5 runs in the boat.

LOL I use DAX pomade in my hair when I play with the rockabilly band! It's impossible to wash out of your hair I imagine it would stick to the drive cable!
That band is fun, I've got the whole costume, leopard skin brothel creepers to the pompadour on stage!
The bass player does the whole routine standing on his bass, playing on his back LOL the stage show is harder to do than the music.
Still need the rat rod with the flame throwing straight pipes!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
