I would love to find someone who can build a gear box for my last 1717 that would give me a shaft rpm of 23-24k
that way I could use like a gasser prop with the sigle 1717 and maybe see mid 40's to upper 40's on 6s

If it were me I'd use the t-180's and run 5s instead of 6s. A little less battery weight and less stress on the esc's, but still blisteringly fast!!

5s put's you closer to 30,000 unloaded rpm and 447's will get you close to 50mph reliably.

Octura makes 447's in counter-rotating and the next size up is 457's. I would start with the 447's and go from there......
Actually you can get reverse rotation x-450 3-blades!

You are right but if you have ever seen the "r" in those, they are nasty. A real pain to clean up and sharpen.

Keep in mind that the Rio is a boat designed for the low 40's. When pushing even the low to mid 50's it handels like a SV-27. tippy and likes to barrel roll in corners in some small chop.
THe hull has a fairly shallow V compared to some of the DF type boats and can provide a lot of lift at speed. Keep a fair bit of weight forward to help the boat stay on the water and corner better.

Thanks Doby was hoping you would chime in. I am thinking to run 6s2p lipo on two x447 props is this a good idead ? Or should I step down to 5s and run x450/3 props ??

                          Thanks
