Twin 1717 Rio 51

Hi, would 2 castle 1717 motors work in a Rio with twin speedmaster struts ? Each motor on 6s2p lipo. My speed aim is about 40mph. Is this possible ? Speedos would be Swordwish 240amp on x450 props sound ok ? Also how to I counter rotate my props ?

I think it would work but it's gonna be a lot faster than 40mph......My guess would be 60-70mph. Props come in a "r" which is a right hand or also called reverse. Octura makes 447's in counter-rotating and the next size up is 457's. I would start with the 447's and go from there......

One 1717 would push her 40mph.

my guess is low 60's but i am unsure of the handling characteristics of the 51 because i have not owned one..i thought i read somewhere of it getting hard to control above 55..its definately going to be heavy with 6s2p per motor..your escs will be fine..interesting choice for a build though! i like it!

Wow I really didnt think it would be that fast !! what shafts would work in the speedmaster stingers ?

i agree on the flex cables for sure..you need to make sure you get a clockwise and counterclockwise rotation for your setup..just get the hughey cables on ose or search ebay or kintec racing may have some..you just gotta dig around for boat parts..the other thing is get the cables with the 3/16 prop shaft also so you can use props with that size hubs...flex cables are offered with different configurations to confuse you...

yes these will work great..you may have to buy the longer ones and cut them down depending on where you are mounting your motors

i honestly cannot remember the mounting hole pattern on the 1717.. but if its the standard 25mm then that mount will work fine ..25mm is .98 inches so the 1 inch spacing will work..and they are cost effective too!

Yeah thats what I was thinking. Would I get away with 200amp speedos as there half the price of the 240 ?
