wires not long enough, quick question

I want to put my seaking 120A ESC in my UL-1 but the three wires that run to the motor aren't long enough to reach. Could I just buy some of the 6mm connectors and some 12 gauge wire and add an extender to the existing wires so that they reach the motor wires?

In all there will be 6 connectors instead of 3, two on each motor wire, would this be ok or would it be too many different connections?

Every additional connection adds resistance..adds power draw.. creates heat... reduces performance.. all the bad things we try to avoid...

remember that long leads between motor and es introduce their own problems.

Most preferable outcome would be to have as few connections as posible.
Remove the leads from ESC and reattach longer ones....
12AWG silicon insulated is a good move..

check out Deisels setup. I forgot what he did but made it work on his UL-! with an Aquacraft 120 (they have short motor wires too)

Alright, that's what I'll do then. I ordered some connectors and wires from OSE yesterday so I'll solder it to the board when they get here. Any helpful hints on how to solder to a board? Is it best to just cut the shrink wrap, solder and get some more shrink wrap to replace the cut one and reshrink wrap over it?

Where would I find 1.5" shrink wrap to rewrap the ESC? I looked at home depot today and the biggest they had wass 3/4".

I can send you a piece if you want to pay for shipping. I'll give you enough for 2 esc's. LMK

ose usually has it in stock.

go with at least the 2 1/2" or a bit more.
remember you have the THICKNESS of the ESC to contend with also.
then use a heat gun for shrinking wing covering or a hair dryer on high and go for it.
I use my old monokote heat gun and it works just great.

yeah, take dangerous up on his offer. you can't go wrong there.

                    Why not check OSE !
                    all sizes here
ensure you get stuff 25% larger than what you need.. allows for good coverage and tensile strength when shrunk

Dangerous Toys, thank you very much for the offer! How much would be shipping to columbus, oh 43221? Also, do you know if what you have would fit a seaking 120A?

I couldn't find it here on OSE, that was the first place I looked
