Really dumb mistake about MHZ drives

I made a mistake with the drives for my Mystic C5000 M.

First, here are the ones I got:

    German Site

    USA Site

I had thought that these took 2mm wire drives from what I read, but I just took the drives out, and these are not 2mm. So I went back to the MHZ site and saw it says that the drilling for the drive shaft is 4.75 which is 3/16.

Woah. And I already have the wire and tubing and wire cutter which I bought for this project. So now I have to order some 3/16 shafts and tubing and teflon. Here we go again!

I just thought I should share. I previously posted a thread about wire drives, and although I won't be using wire, I learned a lot from that!

That sucks, but I think you'll be happier with the flex.

The 3/16 "drilling" is the bearing size for the 3/16" stub shaft. You still need that. What you need is the 3/16" stubs with the 2mm wire drives attached & all will be good.
At least that's the way I read it.

I'm pretty sure his drives came with stub shafts already, but they were wrapped up for Christmas so he was going by the web site that said 2mm wire but they were actually for .187 flex cables.

I'll definitely be happier with the flex since I won't have to worry about the bend or anything. Flex shafts seem a lot easier to me.

From what I'm understanding, I need to glue the 3/16 flex shaft into the drive shaft. There wasn't much info on the MHZ Germany site when I purchased the boat, so I looked at the mhzusa site. There is more info on the German site now though, it's been revised and it's much simpler to find stuff.

My drives are setup just like yours. This is what I'm gonna use.

Yeah I got the loctite and everything from MHZ. I placed an order for the flex shafts and holders but I think they're on vacation.

Not really sure myself, but from what I've read it seems that wire drives are really powerful and reliable systems.
