    Connector suggestions?

Hey guys. I'm just wondering what connectors you'd recommend for this setup:

    45" Cat Hull
    2x Neu 1521 1,5d
    2x Castle Hydra Ice 240XL
    2x 5s Turnigy or Hyperions
    for faster setups
    2x 6s Turnigy or Hyperions

I'm still undecided if I should go for the Hyperions with a setup like mine. I feel like it deserves them though

Should I use the Castle 6.5mm bullets or the OSE 8mm bullets. I was thinking 6.5 on Motor/ESC and 8 on ESC/LiPos.

Lemme know what you think, or if there are better options.

I would def go 8mm. For that wonderful setup you have going on don't stiff on the connector size...

        May I suggest Turnigy Nano-tech's http://www.hobbycity.com/hobbyking/s...onfig=6&qty=30
*I have not tried them myself, but I do have 2s & 3s 6000mah nano-tech in route from HK. With the holiday shipping madness I should get them around February lol....

I'm also thinking 8mm all around, I just don't wanna over do it on the ESC/Motor connections. But I guess I'll go 8 everywhere.

I have some of the 2s 5000 and 6000 Nano-Techs and they're really great. Never had a problem with them. And I was looking at the 5s and 6s nanos but then started considering the Hyperions. I have to make up my mind, I'm really undecided right now.

Did you get EMS or the standard shipping? Haha, either way you'll probably have to wait a while, they always have excuses for shipping out late.

Yeah I'm gonna go with 8mm. The Nanos are really good, you'll be happy with them :)

              Thanks for the suggestions!

I run 8mm connectors and I like them. Be aware that they are not all the same. some are deeper than other so buy all of yours from the same vendor. I buy mine from OSE.

I have both the HK brand 8mm and OSE.One thing I did find is the HK ones are longer and seem to be a little "beefier" than OSE 8mm.I use the HK.Im not bad mouthing OSE,just stating what I saw.

I've been using 8mm connectors on anything that uses a 5000ma or bigger lipo, and recently bought some from HK. They are longer and beefier. Initially they are difficult to plug up, but loosen up after a few uses. Seem to be good connectors.

If I was running an HV setup, I would go with 8mm connectors. JMO

Thanks guys! I'm definitely going with 8mm plugs, most likely the ones from OSE. Much easier to get than from Hobby King and I enjoy supporting OSE.

                          Hello Guys,

concerning connectors I just want to mention, that I personally don't see a point in "bigger is better". Up to now I've had 8mm connectors from 4 different manufacturers in my hands and none of them really satiesfied me. Especially the last ones were extremely big and heavy.

The two important things for connectors are chucking force as well as the area of contact. As a hint: Mark the contact surface of the male part with a permanent marker and put the pair together. Afterwards you can compare both important parameters. With perfect connectors the whole permanent marker should be removed after only one loop of plugging.

Personal opinion: Best connector system available is the 6mm LMT system(Lehner Motoren Technik). They have supperior chucking force as well as being well manufactured.

                          Here are some connectors compared:

                          To get an impression:
With an internal resistance of less than 0.05mOhm, you'd need 6 (!) parallel pairs of the common DEANS connetors with 0.3mOhm to get the same result!! And its just a quite small 6mm system (weight: 4.1g/pair compared to 3.5g/pair for Deans).

Maybe a tip for OSE: Ship some samples of common 5-6-6.5mm systems to Gerd Giese to have them exactly measured and with the results you can choose the best ones for your shop.

                          Best regards,
                          Manuel

Thank you Manuel for an interesting link. I'm glad somebody has taken the time to compare the various connectors available on the market today. I have been wondering about those yellow connectors I've been removing from batteries to replace with Deans plugs. As it turns out, Deans can handle (slightly) more amps. But for large connectors, I'll stick with the various 8mm connectors on the market. They are physically interchangeable and all should all handle at least 150A, which suits my purposes. I don't have the time and patience to figure the exact amp draw of all my boats/motor combination's and have a bag of 3,4,5,6, 6.5mm, Tamiya and those new yellow deals that I've removed or changed about from one setup to the next before throwing my arms up and going to 8mm (Ahhhh.....relief). 8mm isn't that large - a little larger than a pencil eraser, doesn't add enough weight to worry with, but solves a lot of problems for me. And my big fingers can handle them easier. I still believe in the KISS principle (keep it simple), so for me it's still Deans for the small (micro, mini) boats and 8mm for the rest.

Thanks Manuel, that's exactly what I was looking for. I don't wanna over do the connectors, in this case using 8mm when the 6mm are better. I'll look into those LMT plugs.
