Sanding and painting?

How do you sand and re paint a boat? what paint do i use? I want to paint it white from black so do i use primer?

Wet sand it with first with 220 grit, then 400 grit...use only the gray wet/dry sandpaper. Then put a layer of white primer, followed by the topcoats. If you are left with no original paint, you can use any paint, just make sure the primer and topcoat are compatible.
