    Gelcoat

    Has anyone tried this product?http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...K%3AMEWAX%3AIT
I want to gelcoat a CF hull that I got. I would like to brush it on and then sand where needed and buff. Any other gelcoat products out there that anyone knows about? Maybe a link to it. Any help would be appreciated!

If you have done this before and you know how to do it then all polyester gel coats are similar. But If you have not done this before then I would not recommend it, the results won't be so nice as described. The gel coat gives a nice shinny surface when used during the boat construction in the mold. But when painting with gel coat afterwards -externally- is a difficult process, application method is of the utmost importance, definately by spray gun, gel coat viscosity to be right, otherwise you will have a finished surface looking like orange skin, or the gel coat may not cure properly if conditions are not right.

The easiest thing you can do is to use paint and not gel coat.

Tried it , do not do it !!!! Get who ever made the hull to make another using the gel coat of your choice ! It turns out looking like crap, two pack paint is a much better option and just as durable. This is just my opinion of coarse and you can ignore it if you wish.
