I've seen this same thing happen before but usually between the coupler and the stuffing tube inside the hull where the flex shaft was unsupported.

Thanks guys for all the thoughts.

I had a 2mm gap at the drive dog.
I also found nothing obstructing the prop.

It will get fixed with a 1/4 tube and hopefully all will be well.

      Cheers and happy holidays.

Put a .187 cable in it while you're at it, you'll be glad you did.

Dosnt the Genesis come with a teflon liner or did you remove the liner leaving to much clearance in the tube allowing the cable to whip. Martin.

3/16 cable will withstand more torque. JMO

the stock stuffing tube is very thin walled compared to k&s brass tube.
that could have been the problem.

...also if the water is rough, prop will hop out of the water getting no load RPM at full throttle and then sudden dip back in to the water will create temporary heavy duty stress on the cable... So it happens for many reasons as the other guys are saying...

Looks like you used aluminum for the stuffing tube. That is a much softer material than brass and also creates more friction than brass. There was obviously some knotting and the aluminum could not hold the strain. So putting a 3/16" cable in the same aluminum tubing will not hold or will deform. Use brass and for insurance double wall it.
