setup help

I have recently been given a 900mm shallow vee fiberglass hull it weighs 750g

Im just wondering what motor esc battery setup i should put in it

It hasnt had any running gear in it

Im new to rc boating so some help and advice would be highly appreciated

do you have a picture so we can determine what hull it is? 900 is a pretty big hull, around 34-35" i would recomend either a big turnigy 600 outrunner or something like a leapord 56mm can. it all depends on what you want speed wise. you could make it go with as little as a ul-1 motor but it wont be a rocket.. try to stick with 4-6s batteries to start and look at some of the other larger mono builds in the threads to get some idead

Don't decide what to put in the hull until you have decided what you want the boat to do. Shallow-vee hulls that size can be run very well with either 4S or 6S set ups, and motors from 540-size to 840 can work fine. It really depends on what you want from the boat:

- speed goal
- run time range
- cost
- sport or racing

Unless you decide up front what you really want, you can easily fail to meet your goals.

my goals would be a good mix between speed and cost( i dont mind spending a bit i just dont want it over the top)

6s would that be one 22.2v lipo or two 11.1v connected in series?

usually 2 3s in series.. you are probablly going to need at least 5000mah. i run 2 5000mah 3s in series in a 32" cat and get about 3 minute safe run time (3 min in a boat is average to keep temps under control)

I'm not trying to be difficult, but you NEED to know what you expect if you want to be happy with the results. You'll have to know more specifics. Excluding hardware, is 40 mph, five minutes and $300 a "good mix"? Is 75 mph, three minutes and $700 "over the top"? You have to decide.

The least expensive would probably be a Feigao 10XL and 4S1P. Speeds around 40 mph and 4-5 minutes run time. The mid-sized Leopard and 6S2P is probably a good compromise but ~twice the cost. A used Neu on 6S2P would be "best" but requires top-end ESC and cells....more $$$.

I would suggest Fluid's Feigao option......cost effective.....reasonable speed....good run time for a newbie to rc boating
