I have used 2 pound density from USC and made a vacuum formed 18" cat very strong. I have also had problems with it distorting the vacuum formed plastic, so I need to experiment more with it.

Thanks guys! You all are very helpful and I appreciate the responses! I'll get some 2# stuff and do the 1 oz test...sounds good!

Any other reccomendations as far as places to buy from? US Composites seems to be a chore to order from...no click and pay....

        Thanks again!

USC isn't too bad. Just fill out the order form online and submit it. Never had a problem with them not getting it or anything being wrong. Have ordered many times and it is always right and fast.

Thier site is a few decades behind on ordering though, isn't it.

Thanks Brian! Just ordered the 4# stuff from them today.

They definately need ordering/add to cart buttons on their site...lol! It's all good!

I used the 2 part 4# in my sprint cat and UL-1. The thinner glass on the UL-1 distorted a tiny bit from the pressure but added A LOT of rigidity. Good stuff!

I agree! I have recently used it on my Rico hull and I got a very tiny (and very unoticeable) deflection on the front of the deck. I wouldn't hesitate to use it again!! Definately adds strength...and to all of the non believers, No, it did not make the hull seperate...and it will not hold water! It is a closed cell foam.....I think the "Rumors" are made by people that have never tried it out for themselves...

I am very happy I used it!

Hi guys, sorry to drag up an old thread but I'm thinking about using expanding foam in the bow of my deltaforce 29.
Is this 2lb foam what you guys recommend still? http://www.uscomposites.com/foam.html

                  Thanks

I would never buy a boat that has foam in it, been in model boating for forty years and certified outboard tech as well. Foam is a mistake unless your using it to keep the mice out of your house. I have seen it expand and ruin boatseven a year later. Dont care what any one says ,one scratch in the skin it absorbs water ,gets heavy, ruins value, and once its's there it's bitch to remove . Everything about it is a negitive! Dont do it ! Use a kids beach ball and blow it up to fill the cavity and open valve to remove.

I disagree rots aluminim, rots wood, retains h2o. I took a pile of it out of a Formula 402 Amps just the other day, and boat ad read used once. After digging for a half hr I found water that smelled like a sewer . Anyone that has been around real boats and models knows it's the worse thing you can use. I'm glad you have had good luck with yours but i believe it hurts the boats value and everyone in my circle of boaters and modelers agree cause of vast experience. Just my opinion and i've never lost a boat . Check out this OSE this thread, Dumas Scarab conversion to Cigarette center console 3 pages to look at photo's to prove i have lots of experience, or go to Chips Outboard service Pembroke Ma
