    Motor-Esc Compatability

I have a 27" Woodstuff Tunnel and an OS lower with a Neu 1509 1Y. I will be running this on 2s, 3s batts. Would an Etti 150a opo speedy be compatable with this setup? Only looking for sport speeds, 40+ on 2s. On 3s ? What prop? Thanks ahead for any advice.

      Yeah,

I would say it should pretty good. I use the same motor on 2S in a cracker box and rarely pull over 100A with reasonable props.

3S with small props will be OK, but ramp up cautiously.

Do not run that motor on 3S, the Kv is too high and amp draw will be too high as well. As stated above, on 2S it should work fine as long as you do not get too greedy with speed/prop size.

2S actually draws more amps than 3S. The motor is trying to achieve a certain amount of watts. Volts X Amps = Watts. What it lacks in volts, it will make up with amps! 3S is too much on that motor though. If memory serves, it's 5000KV? I would say the 150 esc will be just barely adequate.

A 1509 1Y is a 3600kV motor. 3S is tolerable with correct set-ups, but its leaning towards SAW RPM. For a OB its not a good idea with the sharp bend in the shaft. For a rigger, mono or cat with gentle bend it would be fine.

If you run the same prop and jump from 2S to 3S the current will go up dramitically. However, to get the same speeds you can prop down increase the voltage and run the same amperage. The motor will be running closer to its peak efficiency.

good info guys ,would a 2700kv motor be to much for a ob with a 120 esc on 4s?

Yes, that is a litte too hot. shoot closer to 1900kv for 4S.

2S and a 1509...I ran mine on a 435/3 in a mono. May be able to go a little bigger on a tunnel but I would start with the 435/3 blader.

                    If I remember correctly, a 435 is a 1/8 drive prop. I'm running a 3/16 drive on an outboard. I think a 438 would be fine. JMO
