From what I was reading, it is going to be racing in F2 in 2012 and testing in 2011. Either way, there is no way that engine has 95% less emissions. I also doubt that it weighs 300 lbs like a 2.5 merc race motor does. Even with 400 hp that package won't run with the f1 boats yet. It seems pretty neat, definitely alot of technology in this thing. I am really interested in the drive system more than anything. I will say that engine sounds like *!***!***!***!** though.

Ive always had a passion for these boats and not seeing the engine hangin off the back just dont get it in my book, ive learned a long time ago the outboards rule the water v/s inboards h/p wise , there just faster for less bucks

Outboards will never die! The optimax racing motors are amazing! I have a 2.5xs on my STV (vid if your interested http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7zjwaBIeMEw and it never smokes just got to get rid of all those old tech motors.

This is a cool idea but would think they would just start a different class.

I doubt that will ever catch on. You can't beat the power to weight ratio, torque and simplicity of a 2 stroke outboard, even a super clean DFI 2 stroke outboard.

To many moving parts in that system.
