Hey. I use a Garmin eTrex H. You can find a lot of them on eBay for about $60-70. It's a great unit for measuring speed with and it's small and portable as you want.

The Garmin Forerunner line of GPS's are hard to beat as well. They are very small. I bought mine used off of eBay as well.

EAgle tree also makes a data logger with optional gps unit, and it weighs a few grams. You can d/l your path and overlay it on google earth.

                  PG 03 mini gps?

Any one have one of these or know it it will give max speed ( which is what we all want!) as opposed current speed?
This GPS receiver & location finder (a.k.a, PG03 mini GPS), displays geographic coordinates, velocity & altitude and can record distance & mileage traveled!

The link says it can record your journey and you can see how fast you were traveling. Don't know if it will display that info or if you would have to d/l it later.

I think the Etrex H's are water proof too.

Google is the answer. Maybe there is even a gps forum out there that might be able to answer your question, or track down the manufacture and ask them.

Tried Googling, no luck certainly the price and size are right but I cannot figure out if it records an average speed or maximum speed.

Yea I googled too, and found a bunch of places that sell the same gps. What about contacting the manufacture, or sending an email to one of the sellers?
