    bec

    if i order a turnigy 120 esc from hk, do i need a bec or ubec . new to this so i don't no what to get and i only want to order it once . how to choose the wright one?

    The one I just looked at said it has an internal BEC so I would say you don't need one unless you are running more than 4S. If so, people say to disconnect it and use an external BEC but I'm not sure why exactly.

      Ive ran my 120's on 4s without an external BEC.I wouldnt bother with using one unless you run the esc at it max voltage rating or you could use a separate battery pack to power the RX and servo.

        You are exactly right! Some guys think that anything over 4s puts a strain on the esc and causes excessive heat. I think if your setup is pushing the limits of the esc then use an rx pack. If you have a mildly propped 5 or 6s setup thats not taxing your esc too much, then the bec can work fine. That is just my opinion from my experience. Good luck!!
