looking to pick up a used boat.CHEAP!Got my eye on UL-1,SV27 and SV27R.Hope to run it for a wile then get a DF,Titan 29,ect.mono hull and drop the esc and motor from the one I buy in it.Wich would be a better power plant.

ul-1 is the best power plant out of those three hulls you mentioned.

The ul-1 has the better motor(2030kv) and lipo ready speed control(60amp). I would choose it first. The sv-27r also has a great motor(1800kv) and speed control(45amp), but the esc is not lipo ready. Lastly the older version sv has the least desireable motor(1500-1600kv) and the 45 amp speed control is good quality but again not lipo ready.

If your new to FE boating, start out with the easiest to drive boat. A mono hull. The SV27 can be found RTR for less then 200 bux RTR almost all the time. The newer SV27R is going to cost you more. A UL1 is awesome and will indeed go faster but if your new to FE the fastest hull is not the one you want to start with.

Thanks!I've got a Micro hydro and am really wanting a 25-29 mono.If I could get a UL-1 cheap I would run it fo awile and then get a mono hull and dump the electrics in the mono

Im still kicking myself HARD for not jumping on this one though

You'll be happier with any of the aquacraft rtr's! The sv-27 was my first brushless boat and today is still one of my favorites!

If you want to put the motor/esc out of the rtr you get into a 29" mono, the 1800kv (gold can 27r) motor maybe better for that size hull JMO. The 27r and the original 27 have the same 45amp esc's the r just has the ul1 esc water jacket over it. Or you could just buy a SV hull and hardware and put ul1 motor/esc in it

Hmmmm not really. PB electrics are for sale more often. UL1 power everyone usually holds on to. I know I have a ul1 motor/esc sitting on my shelf with no plans to let her go. Their gold lol, so many possibilities with ul1 power, I know I have used it in 3 different hulls.

The one thing to keep in mind with the SV hull is the stern needs to be re-enforced unfortunately. But this is not that big of a deal had to fix mine and it was not that bad.

I know the SV27R do as they removed the transom doubler for some unknown reason , I had one crack on the transom of my original SV27 which occurred from running over debris and not having a shear bolt installed. Other than that the original sv has been solid for me. (Except when I tried to push her to 60mph, it did not like that very much). Keep it under 50mph and she's good.

Does the SV-27R not have lipo ready ESC? I thought it did. My mistake.

Yea that's correct Jim. It is the exact same 45amp esc as the original sv27 with a better water jacket. Grim posted about it a long time ago when the R was about to come out. Now the AQ cat coming out in 2011 will have the 27R motor (1800kv) with a aq 60amp esc (ul1 esc). At least that's what Grim posted a while back.
