    Tenshock Mono1 Speed?

Can someone give me an idea of what speed to expect from a Tenshock Mono1 with the following specs?

    Hull is about 590mm
    Motor Tenshock 1530 8T 3450kv 2 pole I think
    Prop 37x52 on 2S
    Prop 35x50 on 3S
    2000 mah 30C batteries.

I am using a HK 120 Esc and have run it on 2s and 3s and would estimate speed to be high teens on 2s and low twenty's on 3s.

Speed estimate based on comparing known speeds of other boats so is subjective I admit. (On 2s it runs even with my Rio on 2s batteries and a brushed motor.)

Quite frankly I was expecting a little more speed so was wondering if something was wrong with this set up or were my expectation optimistic?

The original owner of my Tenshock mono1 had a very similar setup
    Lehner 1530/8
    Graupner carbon 36mm
    3s 3400mAh
The Tenshock 1530 is a copy of the Lehner and will be very similar in performance.
I don't think it ever got timed down the 110yds with this setup but it was very competitive and typical Mono1 speeds are in the low 40s.

Some thing is wrong if you are only getting low 20s on 3s, check for any driveline binding, is there a gap between the prop or drive dog and the strut so that there is room for the flex to shorten under load?

How confident are you of your battery pack? A 3s Mono1 setup as above should be drawing an average of 30-35A for the 6min+ runtime, which is only a 10C load for the usual 3300mAh+ Mono1 3s pack but on only 2000mAh its nearer a 17C load which should be fine with a 30C battery, but what 35x50 prop are you using? I only really know Octura and Graupner but a stock Octura X435 will have more load than a Graupner 36mm, the Graupners seem like a very light load for there size so with a metal prop you could be at 20C or more if it isn't sharpened well, some more dubious batteries or even very old/ well used batteries of quality origins will not hold up under that kind of strain and the voltage will plummet through the floor.

Both props are Tenshock stainless so do not think that is the problem. I had almost convinced myself they were too small as the motor and battery run cool on 2S and 3S but it seems they are about right from your post

I just put a little more slack in the drive train but do not think it was binding as my experience with binding has been the motor gets warm too.

I do appreciate you taking the time for the long post, is there anyway you think it might be the motor, perhaps the previous owner run it hot and it de-magnetized? I'm thinking it would run hot if that had happened though.

Battery packs are new Rhino 2s and Flightmax 3S

      Thanks for the post

I have two mono hulls by Tenshock: so fast but you have to use 3 or 4 cells...

My SAW setup is 5100 or 5600kv with 3 cells nanotech lipo, 120A swordfish ESC and metal prop (by Tenshock or propshop.uk).
The final speed starts from 83.3kmh using 34mm prop but will be about 100kmh using 37mm prop!
PVC props are not reliable because a 39mm pvc prop becomes a 35mm under speed...

          This is a mono1 running on 3s
          3400kv 2860 leopard 39mm prop
not sure how fast it is but it makes me grin every time I get it wet
          I would say it's low 40s

This will give you a laugh. my mate brought a tenshock mono a few years back when we were first getting into boats. Guy he brought it from reckoned the motor was 1300kv.so he tried it on 6s.
This is its first run http://youtu.be/XIpi0TXyiVw
After the way it was spitting itself off the water at 1/2 throttle he contacted tenshock found out the motor was 4200kv (i think from memory) thats over 92,000 rpm.

I have a tenshock mono1 with feigao 10xl 2352 KV on 3S, running mid 30's (very cool setup, I could easily prop up), video attached.
