To MDF or not to MDF

    Yes on the heavy part, but you need some weight lifting anyway!

    I would go with the MDF (the kind that has a vinyl on one side is better) and keep it stored on edge when not in use. Still would use the granite for building surface. MDF will last some time if it is kept dry.

      I use a table top surface that I built from a 2X12 X 8 foot clear spruce plank I cut it in half then glued and clamped the 2 halves together side by side. Once dry I took it to a cabinet shop and had it leveled with their planner They charged me $ 5.00. I now have a 23 X 48 pefectly straight and level build surface for around 30.00 total. Using the same idea you can build it any size you need.

        I use a piece of 3/4 inch white mdf shelving material. They come in a variety of sizes.

          Allan, you are right, I could use some more meat on my bones... other then looking good on camera, there isn't much use for a skinny fella like myself,
