    Help, need motor couplers...

Can't seem to find motor couplers anywhere for these big Leopard motors.

OSE is the only place that actually lists the couplers I need but they are out of stock. These motors have a 6mm shaft and I need to connect to a 1/4" (.250) flex shaft.

I can find every size coupler except the one I need.

I make them if you want set screw style. Which is very strong and well balanced and weigh little.

Yeah I don't care how long they are as long as they are nice looking and hold up. Can I get them to accept a square end 1/4" flex?

I really can't move much on this build until I have these so I'm ready to do this.

Let me look into the square deal and get back to you tomorrow.

I'm not married to the square, I was just curious.

Motors are 6mm. I can find 5mm and 8mm everywhere but nobody has 6mm.

Can you find 5mm to square? Or 5mm to 1/4" round with set screws?

The square broach is going to be difficult. I could do it in Aluminum, but not sure how centered it would end up being for a high rpm application and it would wear out. The setscrew option would be easy.

I took a nitro coupler and bored it out to 6MM.
I had the coupler from years back, It was off a big OS Max motor.
It had a threaded motor end and a collet flex shaft end.
I also had a 1/4 inch square collet laying around.
So that combination got me adapted - 6MM to square.

It takes a lathe to bore out the theraded end and keep everything concentric.

Yeah I thought about that. I found 6mm threaded to .250 flex couplers and thats as close as I can get. I don't have a lathe so it looks like I'm stuck until Steve or someone else gets them in stock.

I have a lathe. Did you want a 6mm to square drive, a 6mm to 1/4" setscrew drive, or a 6mm to 1/4" collet drive?

I would really like 6mm to 1/4" square drive. Simply because its easy to get counter rotating flex shafts with the square end. Can you make it precise so its smooth at 30,000 RPMs?

Maybe something simple like this from FineDesign. They only have them in 8mm and 10mm.

                            http://www.finedesignrc.com/hardware...vecouplers.jpg

I guess a round collet or set screw type would work too.

                              Chris:

Machining the square end is very hard to do without a $300 broach.
If you purchase a pair of those couplers from FD in 5MM, I could bore them out to 6MM for you.
