    twin drive on a cat

    Just thinking ahead here folks.

Does one HAVE to mount the struts/stingers on the rear of the sponsons,
or can they be mounted on the stern of the boat with off-set rudder?

    thanks

I see alot of European builders put the struts on the transom. I take it this is a twin cat build? It kinda depends on the rudder as well. I have found having the leading edge of the rudder blade behind the drive dog helps handling a ton.

You can mount the strut mounts on the transom if that's what your asking. Most use stinger on the sponson so it looks scale. IMO it you mount on the transom you can get the two drives closer to each other which will make the boat handle better. There's a couple guys here running it that way too.

I thought that you would want to mount in the sponsons because of the lower COG
