anyone ever heard of a neu motor just kinda making a squealing noise then kinda quitting, and just before it gave up it had delayed full throttle response. There was no smoke just a faint electronicish type smell but nothing like burnt electronics and was not hot.the bearings and connectors are all fine but now the rotor spins freely as if no resistance? any ideas like the rotor is shot or the motor has become demagnetized somehow.Im gonna have to send it in to steve at neu for a look and repair possibly.Anyone ever had this happen it just kinda squeals when throttle is applied then catches kinda weirdly????????? I was using it in a savage flux for the past 8 months as well with zero issues until now.upon rechecking it when I apply throttle it spins and squeals a bit during startup then just slows down gradually after I release throttle like a freewheel action lol...Its toast methinks

This sounds more like an ESC problem than a motor problem, but it could be either. The squealing noise and the jerky movement (cogging) can be signs of an ESC/motor connection issue or a bad ESC signal. Have you changed the ESC settings recently, like the timing or frequency?
The free spinning rotor - did it always spin freely, or did you notice it was notchy before? Not all Neus motors are notchy. If the motor ever got really hot (over 200*F) the magnets could be greatly weakened. I'm not sure how that would cause a squealing noise.

changed the motor to a neu 2200kv and problem is gone so yep its the motor and it has been over 200 but only once, and ran fine after that for 5 months steady,I guess once is all it takes lol.esc is fine thank god and i never change settings it was dialled in good.time for a rebuild and repair I just wonder at what kinda cost though? anyone have to ever have one fixed like this and have bearings redone at the same time too lol.motor was notchy before today then its not anymore now lol ooooops.my guess is magnets are shot it just spiiiiinsComment

the rotor probably separated from the shaft. the squeal is the magnet slug spinning on the rotor.
If it is a castle/neu you can get a repair kit with a new rotor for cheap, I would just send it in if it's a real neu.Comment

Just send it in to Neu. All it will cost is the shipping. It will fit in the small $5 priority USPS box. The inspection/evaluation is free. Then you will know whats wrong. They normally dont have discontinued motors unless you are referring to their old blue motor line. Discounted motors are for customers using their old one for trade in value. Or just buy a CC/Neu 1512/1.5Y for $60 on sale now. Pretty good deal.

Before you end up chuck'n the Neu in the lake take it apart. The front end bell unscrews. Look at the rotor first. Geo's advice could be right on the money. I have never had a rotor seperation on a genuine Neu motor but I have had one with a Lehner. It just might be as simple as that. I doubt that the CC/Neu rotor is a direct drop in but you will never know until you look.
If you dont want to mess with it I'll trade you. Sight unseen. I dont know what I'm getting but will take the gamble. How about a racing prop? Something custom or basic. I have many boxes of props. All sharpened/balanced/polished. Need something special? Just let me know soon. I'm heading out of town for 3 weeks and will be away from the homestead if you are interested.

Let me bring in (garage is damn cold these day's!) the prop boxes and offer some suggestions. Anything in the 40 to 47mm range could be ideal. I would think at those RPM's you might want a smaller diameter prop but that hull can be stable even with a bigger prop.
