I also do the double seal thing, use neoprene weather stripping of a bead of silicone, using the silicone I grease up the sealing surface of the hatch then tape it down, let the silicone harden and the hatch lifts right off. Then when I tape it down I get the double seal going.
On my nitro boats I still use blind nuts and screws to hold down a lexan lid on the radio box.
Do it up before leaving home and don't worry for the rest of the day, the clear lexan lets you see any condensation if you get wet. Still put a couple small chunks of kitchen sponge in just in case.
Also do the conformal spray in RX and servos. Never tried the plasti-dip, I like to be able to take things apart if something breaks and you flood.
I've only lost one servo due to water, in a sailboat that developed a crack along the keel trunk. Also the most expensive servo I've ever owned! Damn sail winch!
If my boats upside down then who owns the one I thought I was driving the last two laps?
Colored duct tape works the best for sealing, but it can leave residue.
That's what I use but I spray my hulls with this before and after every trip to the water. Even red and black duct tape comes off easily without a chance of damaging the finish.
