Not enough information. A 32" HOTR cat will run fine on 4S and a 9XL and an x445, but a 34.5" SprintCat won't. The SprintCat turns a lot better and handles rougher water better. What cat is the OP looking at?

depends on the propeller, if the cat cat run well on small props i.e. 42mm then you need 5-6s and rpm range 30-40k
if you need big props (like sprintcat needs) then 6s min. and rpm 30k

motors size NEU 1521,1527, castle 1518,1520 leopards 4082 (4074 for genesis)

I don't know how the genesis runs, but I 've seen here one with the turnigy 1400kv outrunner (veeery good motor for the price)
the sprintcat will be more demanding and expensive if you need high speeds (motor, esc 240HV), may even run well with the turnigy 1400kv but better to have the input from someone with same setup.

my opinion is to go with twins, faster, safer, better handling

If you wanna run a traditional stlye cat such as the Genensis,Id go with a Leopard 4082 1500 kv on 6s with a T-180 and an X442 prop to start.I ran this set-up in my 37" Drifter but with an X445 prop, and went 62mph.Ran really cool with room to prop up.I was very impressed with the Leopard.I dont have a data logger yet so I cant tell you about amp draw and such.

I really like it.I ran a 645 prop this past sunday and lost 10mph somehow-and split my hull open.My next prop is an x447,then an x450.I think the longer can makes a little more torque than the 4074,which would be helpful for a mid 30" hull.
