The motor and batteries are the bulk of your weight. I place everything in the hull (including floatation) and move them around until I can find a spot for the motor where I can move the batteries easily after motor installation and still keep the CG in the desired range. The hull balance point in a cat should be somewhere between 28 - 33% from the rear of the hull.

Also, take your CG from the last step, not the transom.

Not my first boat build, just picked-up the Drifter for a good price and have been wanting to try a KB in a Cat...So I figured I would check it out!

Well I have a 34 cat and have run both the KB8XL & The Feigao 9XL. I am on the 9XL, K40 cf prop with 4s-2p 6600mah. I am getting 4 to 5 minutes before I bring it in. I'm useing about 54 to 5600mah of the packs and seeing just over 40mph each run. The temps are all mild. Nothing over 120. if it where not for my fixed motor mound and drive system I would have kept the KB. But I had CG problems with the weight of that big motor so far up front. Mr Watts has more data on the KB if you want to go in that direction. Here is a pics of my setups.
