Kintec Pursuit Mono - Second Run

Well, this run was much better than the first (I lost the shaft). I love how this thing handles, but it could definitely use some more speed. I tried the 40mm prop and everything ran cool, then I went on to the 42mm. It ran cool the first time, but the second time there was some smoke from the ESC. It was 200 F. That can't be good. The motor was cool to the touch, I believe it was around 90 F when I measured it.

I think it could use a SeaKing 180a ESC instead of the 120, like Diesel has.

Other than that, I'm pretty happy with the boat. I'm gonna post another thread in the SV27 forum about my SV run.

My Pursuit

I got a Pursuit for a birthday gift Thursday and got it running Sunday. I did also have a few things I did to it. Reinforced the motor mount plates with epoxy and glass. I had a small leak by the stuffing box transom and added some more epoxy around it. I would get a small drip drip out the flex shaft but while running no water came in. Played with Kintecs O rings some so that must have worked. I will be replacing my shaft also with the single 3/16". Its on the way. Also replacing the 3 piece collet with Octuras 2 piece. The brass inner collet would grab the motor side and you have to break it free before the shaft will release. Balanced and sharpened the 42mm detongued stock prop since it fit on the stock shaft. First run was good but sluggish I thought. Second run was much better. Low 40's . Mine is a bit wet and have to move batteries back quite a bit but it handles just great. Motor, esc and battery temps all good. Will try a x440 or above when I get the new shaft.

Cool! Congrats on the boat :)

There was definitely water coming in through the stuffing tube without the o-rings. With them it was completely dry after a couple of runs. I also replaced the shaft with the 1 pc 3/16. Make sure you tighten it! I lost the first one that way. I was looking at that coupler, might get it as well. My 42mm prop isn't sharpened and balanced, but I have an x440 and x445 that are both sharpened and balanced. I don't think it did 40 though, but I didn't GPS it.

The only thing I'm changing for next week is the angle of the strut. I'm going to get it more neutral since I overlooked that.

Saw the vid and it looks really cool! The Pursuit definitely over took the Villian. Also, I like the checkers on yours :)

Oh and also, you should put two straps of velcro along the sides and place your batteries there. As far back as possible. That's why your boat is running wet. Jan from Kintec told me that the boat should be very loose, that way it'll work at it's best.

Will do the battery change. Did not really have much to go by but saw the other picture here of the esc on the rear orginal battery plate with batteries rearward on both sides of the motor. Will do. Thanks for the help.

Yep, batteries definitely need to be further back. That is why your boat was running wet, should be good now though! Good luck :)

The boat is fully repaired and still running 50 MPH with a Leopard, 2200KV, Seaking 180 and three bladed brass prop. Eagle Tree Data Logger Pic attached.

Ouch! How did that happen? Was your depth perception a little off?

50 mph sounds really good. I think I just need to tweak my trims a little more. Which prop are you using? And I think the 180a with be my next upgrade.

Radio glitch and after that I switched to 2.4 Ghz and never had a problem since.

Prop is a 24 mm da 3-blad thaat was given to me I think the pitch is 1.4 but not sure. The next time I remove it I will check out the markings. The Seaking 180's have been flawless and the perfect combo for the Leopard 4074's in my opinion.

Damn that really sucks! Both of my boats are 2.4GHz. And now I know to never use those old radios again. Oh the prop you're using is the stock one? Where did you get your Pursuit from?

And haha, Krowbar. Good thing there aren't any cement walls where you run your boat!

This was the second boat it happened to, The first, a Mean Machine that now has a totally new front end. Again, old radio glitches in the same spot on the lake. Love the new 2.4 Ghz. It hit so hard it snaped the mount from the GoPro HD onboard camera and threw it 6 feet up into the bushes.

The two blade prop is stock, this is a custom 3-blade given to me by a friend so that is why I do not knot the pitch.

Got the boat directly from the factory in China. About a year ago. You may have seen my post on my factory visit this year also in the forums. ThePursuit and Genesis seem to be two of their best boats.

On the first run with my little brother's brushless Reef Racer 2, I forgot to pull the antenna out cause I'm so used to my 2.4GHZ controllers. The boat just started speeding straight into a concrete wall. Thankfully it wasn't fast enough to break anything, just a small dent in the hull.

Oh I didn't know it was you that went to the factory! I did see that post and I looked through the pictures. That sounds like it was pretty fun :)
