    Jae 21g rigger

Can the JAE 21 G rigger be converted to electric?

I am looking for somthing a little smaller than the 21 fe

I would like to stay with an electric setup, but after looking at this im not sure if to go nitro

can a electric setup come anywear close to this?

    Thanks

    Chris

Yes it can, i bought the nitro kit and decided that i was going to go FE.
You can see in the pics that i had to cut a "window in the bulkhead, also i had to move the stuffing tube. These are easy changes to do.
The pics were taken when the boat was using the UL1 system. I have since moved to a nue 1515 1y... the bulkhead is now gone only leaving a "U" shaped piece that i reinforced with FG.
As for your other question about speed, I know that you can get this boat rockin on a good setup.
Not sure how fast the boat is going in your vid, but sure you can get their with a good FE setup.
I just noticed that the boat in the vid is a .12 rigger.
Their are vids out their on youtube that show JAE 21 FE's blowing nitros out of the water.
One more thing... you cant use the motor mounts from Zippkits, as the fe hull is not the same width as the nitro hull. I made my own.

Thanks Steve that looks real nice!!
If I buy the Nitro kit do i need to make my own hach ?
do they take long to build, ie could I build the hull in a week doing a few hours a night
I think i will stick with my electrics, and the same motor as you

When you decide to get the kit, make sure you also get the strut, rudder, stuffing box (shaft tube), slow dry and fast dry epoxy, med.thick CA glue, 120, 220, 320 grit sand paper together when you start building the boat.

I run the 21 nitro version and have another 21 kit that will be my winter project for FE.

It CAN be built quickly, BUT, take your time with building this boat and you will be greatly awarded with a fast and stable running hull.
Build the sponsons ACCORDING to the directions in the kit. VERY important.

Yes, you will need to make your own hatch.
If i remember correct (its been a while) you will have to cut out a small piece of the top deck to allow for a one piece hatch.
If you decide to get the cowl with it, you can glue it to your hatch cover, and cut the center of the hatch lid out. This will give you a little more room for the motor, and water lines.
Its a pretty straight forward build. It can be done in the time line that you described, just be sure that it is built straight, and true.
