Just put my Miss Elam togather. Castle 120, x445 prop, and castle 1515. Boat has a top speed of 32 mph???????? Other than the motor its the same combo as my other i had last year that always ran low 60mph with a 8 xL. Here is the strange part. My rpm is only showing 10,000. I changed the esc and reciever and motor and same thing. This is a 4 pole motor from what i understand so thats what i have the recorder set for. If i put it to 2 pole it shows 20,000. Really strange. So im am missing some big time rpm. Never used a Castle motor. Any ideas???

- Which 1515 motor?
- How much voltage?
- What data logger?
Your rpm is not going to give you 32 mph so one of these two values is wrong. With that prop you should be around 17,000 rpm. Better check that data logger and the packs......

Something is definately wrong. Again, we need to know what motor.
timing for the Y winds, is 11-15degrees. Sometimes higher. I run mine at 15degrees in my hydros and it was perfect. Very fast.
One last thin...and believe me, you would not be the first or the last to forget this. is, MAKE SURE your coupler is extremely tight...to the shaft, AND the compression on the flex as well. You would be amazed at the power these have and can spin a coupler free.
Hope some of this helps.Comment

Castle controllers need to be programmed to go to full throttle. Have you checked this step ?2008 NAMBA P-Mono & P-Offshore Nat'l 2-Lap Record Holder; '15 P-Cat, P-Ltd Cat 2-Lap

I bought most of my parts used and am told that the motor is 1515, 2,200 kv. Voltage is 18.5 and an Eagle tree is used.Yes controller is programed. I even put my spare 240HV in there with no change. This is the strangest thing i have ever come across. I even switched lap tops and Eagle Tree units and no change. Tryed another motor and used my same old prop from a pruven set up that worked really well. I will try again at a little pond down the street Sun. morning with fresh batteries with my Telemetry set up to see whats going on. These Castle motors have no markings or info that i can find so i am told its a 4 pole so timing is at 5*Last edited by Gary; 11-07-2010, 05:38 PM.PT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash

Gary, sounds like you have a 1515 1y which likes more timing. I would try 15deg not that it's your main problem but that is where the timing should be. Make sure ur wiring is right as well. Did you accidentally do a parallel when you should have went serie?FE BOATING: Less like a hobby and more like an addiction!Comment

I thought the "Castle" 1515 only came in a 2200kv.....................NEED PARALLEL CONNECTORS?? QUALITY 5.5MM, 8MM, 8 AND 10 AWG, GET THEM HERE:http://forums.offshoreelectrics.com/...est!&highlight=

Ok found problem. As i watched the telemetry i saw a massive voltage drop to around 12 volts. Found that even though my battery was showing itself charged it had a bad cell, poor connection, shorted cell???that was sucking up the power or something who knows.....but it ran 60mph many times right out of the gate with fresh batteries so im happy with that. For some reason my Eagle Tree is also screwed up giving false readings and "corupted files"?? on play back. Time for repair !!!Thanks for everyones help. Also i think there is only one 1515, 2,200kv motor that i ever saw and im pretty sure its a 4 pole so I will have to play with timing.Last edited by Gary; 11-07-2010, 10:49 PM.PT-45, 109mph, finally gave up after last bad crash
