    Leapard or Neu for triton

    Hi,
I'm looking for a motor for a used toysport triton. The ideal motor for me would be a Neu 1521 (1500KV), but that's a bit out of my price range for this project. How would a Leapard 4082 1500KV compare? Fairly close or apples and oranges?

Looking for a setup that can run cool with extended runtimes with large capacity packs, 4S2P.

Wouldn't that RPM be kinda low on a 1500kv on 4s?!? I would think a 4074 1774kv motor on 4s for that hull should work pretty good, JMO... I run that motor in my skunkcat on 4s.

        I had 2 reasons why 1500KV

        1) Most of the time it will be setup on 4S2P loaded up on Mah so I'd like it to run very cool for extended run times (running w/ large prop)

        2) Occationally I'd like to run it on 6S propped down

But, if there isn't much diff in temps for 4S between 1500 large prop vs. 2000 smaller prop I might reconsider that...

I say the Neu would be more powerful than the Leopard........not hugely, but it should have an advantage.

Nice call rum, that motor would rock. I have one in the garage, just nothing to put it in yet

I used the 1518 in my Rico 31" mono on 4s2p and 5s2p and it hauled ass! 58 mph on 5s.

As a few mentioned, the castle motors, on sale now...are rediculously cheap at this time. I run a "real" neu 1515 1y, and a castle/neu 1515 1y....to be completely honest...I can not tell the difference in running them. I don't have a data logger to verify, but without splitting hairs...they are nearly identical in a boat.

Rum, what speeds did you get using the 1518 on 4s2p? I am considering picking up the 1518 (cheap prices, how could I not?) to run in my cyberstorm on 4s2p also.

Not sure on speed with 4s. After I ran it on 5s, I never went back. I used a x548 on 5s too. She can handle it!

                              Cheif-
I have a Leopard 4082 1300kv I actually ran in that boat (too low kv to get any speed on 4s though). I ran it with prather s220, s225, s230, x445, and even tried an x452. It was fast with the bigger props for sure, but it hopped alot when turning and was quite a wild ride.

On 4s with the Leopard 4074/2200kv I ran a s220 and it was fast, turned great, and drove perfectly. Very big difference when compared to the heavier setup with the larger prop. I would try to stay with a s215 or s220 myself...thats definitely where that boat handled the best.

The 1518 on 4s2p would be a great setup. Decent speed, lower temps, and longer run times.

                              P.S.-
If you run 4s2p, you will probably have the best luck putting 3 of the 4 lipos in the left side as far back and close to the motor as you can get them, then run one pack on the other side. That seemed to work the best for me.
