    newb question on running wet?

    I have a good background in the sv area however my tuning has just begun on a df29 boat so how do I tell other than the boat being slow if its running wet? is it also how much of the hull is out of the water or???? and how do I adjust this with my stinger ..just angle it up more..? help.. my sv27 is way faster than my new df29

    Pictures of your setup...the DF29 should smoke an SV27 as it is a way better handling boat, your motor may be suspect, as to your speed problems

      well the face of the motor mount sits at a hair over 4 inches from the transom,and the strut is angled upwards slightly maybe a few degrees.I have the batts mounted either side of the motor at around 27% forward running 4s.I am pissed off cause I threw the same prop on my sv and it killed the df29 on speed(ul-1 motor and esc in the sv27 fyi)

        I'm new to this, but what I've been doing is to keep incrementally moving the weight back (via battery placement) until the boat starts to become unstable.

        On my syncron 4S setup, I've been fine tuning x646 vs. x648, and with the x646 I can get the weight further back and appears to run faster than the *wetter* x648 setup.

          well I can only move the battery back to the point that it hits the servo on the side.I am using the x445 prop which shouldnt be an issue as I tossed it on my sv27 and it rrrripped and was super fast and never even made the electronics hot.So there is no driveline bind so I am left with moving the batts as far back as possible and assuming the boat is running wet or somethin like that.just stumped unless my stinger angle is way off....and are the feigao motors supposed to spin freely or have the notchy feel that some others have like aquacraft or castles have?

            I see you removed the trim tabs. My DF like a little pos. stinger but yours looks a little much. Try lowering it a bit and get that prop in the water a little more. Make stinger adjustments and try short runs.

            The feigao motors do turn free.

            Douggie might be correct. Maybe the motor is a problem. Did you buy it new?

              ya the motor was used but seemed ok initially,I will drop the stinger to zero degrees and try that I don't know what else to do after removing the tabs and playing with the stinger,man will I be pissed if that motor is garbage I will try a castle 2200kv in it but I dont have a jacket for it yet so short runs maybe....

                Start at zero and make small pos. adjustments followed by short runs. There is always a happy spot but I found this hull to be very sensitive to adjustments and COG's.

                I am sure the motor is fine, it was just a thought.

                  In your pics, you have one of a program card. It is the incorrect faceplate for your esc. Settings are probably off.

                      Driftah, I rarely chime in on setups I haven't done before, but consider this : The SV 27 hull has a much smaller footprint in the water than the rather wetter, longer running DF 29 hull. With a UL-1 motor the SV should be faster than a similarly set up DF 29 because of this. Of course the SV will be all over the place while the DF will track way better.I didn't catch what KV motor is in the DF, but, for example, with a 9XL & 442, it should approach 50 mph. Make sure your SC is set to "autodetect" the number of cells, and try the LVC at "no LVC" - the Seaking/Turnigy 180 is notorious for going to 1/2 throttle when set otherwise.

                        its cool tony but yep its a 9xl and no bloody way its even close to 50 bro its at 15 deg timing and lvc is off,runnin 4s the props I have are the x445 and some 42x55 grim's and a L45x68 I need more I know lol.The df's I have seen on youtube just seems way faster with comparable motors.And any easy way to figure stinger angle with simple tools???? I was told go with x447 on this setup but am nervous of cookin stuff temps are ok now...heck i threw the x445 on the sv and holy smoke it was fast and temps were no problems with the ul-1 tronics hehe.Is the timing ok at 15 or shall i play with that as well?

                          Your strut looks fine. Just for grins try an X442 - bigger props don't always increase speed, often only temps. I was running an X445 until Jan recommended trying an X442 and you can see the results in the vid. My setup [early setup-waay too loose ] in a 29" TITAN /
                          9Xl / 4S2P 4100 Neu's / CC 240 timing set LOW (which back then meant 16.25 because of CC's firmware goofup). You can definitely hear the motor fully unwinding. Very old vid; I was just earning my ZSP/WTS wings {Zoom/Splash/Plop/What's That Smell ? }

                          Hang tough, we'll get this fingered out ( and don't forget the SV you're comparing to is smaller, lighter & looser than the DF hull & will be quite fast with the 2000KV UL-1 motor- that is until it goes shiny-side down, as it will ) !
