    df29 prop issues???

if I am using a x445 right now in a df29..... if i wanted more pitch=top speed what should I be looking at prop wise as I am unsure about going any bigger than a 45mm,despite suggestions of going with a 447 I am nervous on a 9xl with 4s1p and turnigy180 esc...so assuming that more pitch will get me more speed with minimal load differences I guess?????????

x645 will get you a little more speed..i would not go more in diameter..trust your gut instinct on this one..increasing your pitch to 1.6 inch will help for speed purposes

Driftah, Why don't you show some pics of your set up. Where is your COG? Are you running trim tabs? There is alot of other things that could be holding back your speed. Show some pics and give some details. Maybe we can help if you keep your questions to one thread.

i am as guilty as anyone jumping straight to the prop for speed gains..moving your weight around can make a huge difference in speed and handling..when i had my df 29 it was real sensitive to moving my batteries around.

ok my trim tabs are at neutral,I believe that the stinger is up 2 degrees from flat,I run 4s1p,octura x445 prop, turnigy 180 esc, external bec, weird though I tried a grimracer 42x55 sharpened on it and it seemed to get on plane faster or am I seeing things...top speed seemed a bit less obviously too...maybe looking at m445 or the x645 to get what i want with no thermal issues???

back to props...hahaah the m445 and the x445 have the same pitch ratio and therefore are going to give you almost the same speed...the m series props are a detongued versions of the x series...you need to get a higher pitch hence the x645 or m645...

Did you add any timing to your ESC? Where is your COG? Is it running wet? I had to remove the trim tabs on mine.

timing is at 15 deg. I run the batteries on both sides of the motor between 25 and 35 percent cog as marked on the hull.I am thinkin maybe just the x645 and hope for the best...i will go out in the afternoon and play with battery mounts to see where it is best.It is weird to have to remove trim tabs on this boat...any explanations why exactly as I have heard both ways now lol...........and not running wet imo handles well just not super fast like my sv27 with ul-1 goods in it hahahaha sv27 sux at corners though

what are you getting for speeds now? maybe you are alredy maxed out for your setup..even an x645 is getting up there for a 9xl..what are your temps at? sorry for all the questions but it helps a lot with your answers

I havent got a gps yet to try on it...soon though.I will try that x645 prop and if it isnt fast enough i will try goin to 5s or 6s and see what happens? as well using a smaller prop than now possibly.

O.K. 'puter is in slow mo tonight.

I had to remove my trim tabs on my DF to air out the hull properly to get any good speeds. Others will disagree with me but that was my experience. You can only find out what works best for you by trying things. I would try removing the tabs and use silicone to seal temp. seal up the holes, you can always install them again. I also found that anything over 28% would cause it to run wet.

Timing sounds a little high but perhaps somebody else could share their knowledge with that.

I would try a few things before you prop up. Over propping could cause you more problems.

5s is questionable. 6s is a no no.

Gotta try a reboot...this computer is acting goofy.

the timing is normal from what I have seen around??? anyone chime in if that may be an issue...it is what the turnigy esc comes as stock setting..going down in timing from there may reduce torque as well I think.
