The way I do it is to push the wire in and heat up solder and "pour" it into the hole until it fills up. To try and be clear I just melt the solder right into the hole and then on to the wire with my solder gun. It tends to cool as it goes through and not really leak out the other side. Works fine and I have found I can do it this way without doing the normal pre-tin on the wire. -

It's part of the electrical systems line that is run with two connectors to the outside of the hull with a jumper that is on the outside of the hull with a loop that may be pulled so that the system may be shut off for safety. Looks like this:
