Want to start a new build, need help

OK I'm ready to build a really fast electric boat. One of the members albums that pop up at the top of the page got my attention.

I really like that drive hardware! Looks scale, and you guys know how I like scale looking boats.

I'm not sold on that particular hull, I really like the Bacardi Silver hull and paint scheme.

So I would like that hull type, twin motors, center rudder, hull painted, carbon fiber inside and motor and servo mounts installed. I'll do the rest.

Where do I start? Where to get the hull and who to get to do the paint, carbon and mount work?

Welcome to the cat club! That would be Bonewar's H&M Maritimo. He has build 2 Hydro and Marine hulls. The drive you see there is the MTC Powertrimm V drive. Very nice drives. Have a look at this swissmodelpowerboatteam.ch. Hanspeter makes the HPR115/06, the HPR135 and they get bigger from there. The other would be Hydro & Marine. The have some nice cats too. Jesse J has done a H&M twin-intruder. Look up his build as well for inspiration.

    Here's a link for ya. http://translate.googleusercontent.c...izC7PMdSTAW-FQ

Wow those MTC drives are nice! I really like this drive, looks even more scale to the real offshore cats.

But let me not get ahead of myself. I need to find a hull first, then someone to paint and do the motor mounts and carbon. Wish there was a one stop shop for that.

What length hull should I look at? Something in the 35-40" range?

Those HPR hulls are nice, but the smallest is 46". Not sure I want to go that big.

Expresscraft & Bonzi both offer boats in any stage of completion that you want.

            I have a SC33 and a SC27 that are cool.

How about this hull as a starting point?

OK after a few days of searching the internet for a cat hull to start I think MHZ has it going on. They seem to be the one stop shop. I can get the hull, scale running gear, carbon for the inside with motor and servo mounts and decal sets all in one shot.

Then of course I will get the motors, radio, cooling and whatever else I can from Steve at OSE.

I have decided on the Mystic Cat C5000

                Any opinions on this boat?

There was a MHZ mystic on sale here on OSE, might be a few pages back. Worth the look. Might I add it was brand new, not assembled. With the drives, rudder, etc.

Just found that ad. He wants $1400 for everything which is exactly what it costs from MHZ for the same thing.

Not that I would mind buying it new but 2nd hand for the same price. But I would be weary to hand over $1400 to a junior member. I wouldn't expect anyone to hand me that kind of cash being how new I am.

Plus I'm not a fan of the Geico scheme. Their commercials make me want to hit my TV with a sledge hammer..LOL

Size wise...the 33" or the 44"? I think I would prefer the smaller boat, cheaper to build, easier to transport and store.
