    fe miss vegas prop questions

    Hi all,
I have converted a miss vegas with the following and I am looking for some new props to try.

    Neu 1515 1y 2200kv

Turnigy 180 esc @ 15 deg. of timing.

    I run (2) Turnigy 4s 5000mah 40c's in parallel

OSE .150 with the 3/16 shaft flex cable

All the rest of the hardware is stock...except I have Shooter's "ONBOARD Hydro RETRIEVAL system's" and one of his homemade cowls.

I currently run an X642 and it really moves but I was wondering if there may be something else to try.

    Thanks in advance
    Fred

that's exactly what I run in my Vegas...but how the heck did you fit 2 x 4S batteries in the sponsons?? Are you laying them up right?

Try an M445 mildly cupped, or an M545 & Buckle Up !!

Ahhhh...I see. I've got my batteries up farther in the sponsons, pretty much up to the end. Is where you have them now better for COG?

properchopper, what speeds are you getting with the M series props? I'd like to be in the 50s reliably.

shooter, my brother-in-law, talked me into building this boat as he has the same set-up.

with the x642 prop his gps'd at around 62mph.

when we ran together (mine for the first time) I pulled away from him in the straights.

depending on the components you use, 50's should be no problem.

my c.g. is about 3/4" to 1" behind the sponsons.

at speed my c.g. works great, very stable, but if I back off the throttle to quick she will dunk, face first.

I hit bottom in 5' of water and had to patch the sponson tips.

62mph...really?? I must be doing something wrong LOL I haven't GPS'd mine but I can't see it being anywhere near the 60s....I was thinking mid to high 40s.

Is it because of your added weight of 2 x 4s batteries? Maybe I should shift my weight back a little to keep the nose up. What is your strut angle and rudder angle?

It's not due to batteries... properchopper and I use the same cells and same place for CG and she is in the high 50's maybe 60 range... it's your setup... mess with your strut high and angle.
the Vegas likes the CG a bit further back then normal... I wanna say 1" behind the sponsons is a good place... I used a 445 wildly cupped and she was fast, until she glitched on top of a metal table while sitting on the prop... stupid mistake cost me a good prop... lesson learned.
                :::::::::::::::. It's NEVER fast enough! .:::::::::::::::

I will take some pics of my strut and turn fin set-up.
here was shooters with just the plexi cowl and before he changed out the
Hydra 240lv for the Turnigy 180.
this was with the same motor I have and a x642

OK...I think I may be getting a little confused with sponson placement LOL. COG is 1" behind #1 or #2?

propper, would it really change performance much considering the M545 is almost the same pitch as the x642 but just the diameter is larger?
I thought, and I am probably wrong, I would want a little more pitch but approx. the same diameter.
                          Thanks Fred

a 646/2 works well with that motor in a hydro also.

                              Just curious....what timing are ya'll running on your T180? I've currently got a T180 as a backup and I'm running a 200a Himodel on 7 degrees timing.
