You want to use a 380 size (28mm can) motor with between 2800-3200kv to run on 3s or no higher than 3900-4000kv to run on 2s. The other consideration is the shaft size. The impeller shaft is 2.3mm on the Nqd and the coupler that comes with it is 2.3mm both ends. So if you can find a motor with that shaft you're good to go. Otherwise you have to drill out the coupler on one end to a 3.17mm or have one made by like jeff wohlt. Also, make sure that you have cooling on what ever motor you have because you will need it or have to make short runs.
Some have ran a 20-22mm can motor like the walkera 180 which works well, but will burn up if not water cooled. So make sure you add water cooling from in front of the nozzle. Here is a vid of mine with an Emp 28mm 3200kv motor on a Graupner mini jet. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdPZij3HSXsComment
