    Hydro Advice.

Okay Im new to owning hydro hulls. Why is it when they first start across the water water tries to come over the front? (in my case sinks the front completely) Is it that i have my COG off or do i have to WOT to start off every time? Slow speeds suck with these things IMHO, but i have yet to learn! WOT is awesome. Even did well in chop from a 26 inch cat hull.

Thats normal for a lot of hydros. You have to learn your throttle response and know when to gun it.
    I just let it rip!

Okay sounds good. Today was my first hydro run so it was extremely new to me compared to a catamaran. Theres no way to pick the front up any more?? ive got the prop strut pitched about as far as i can get it for it to handle good still. It helped some. can i adjust the cog and make it any better? Or just Punch it when it touches water and say screw it? Thats works well too!

        where is your cog?
It varies from hull to hull.Try 2.5" from the back of the sponsons.
Maybe try moving your lipos if there up front.
it will still probably submarine so punch it and have fun!

YEah my lipos kinda sit more towards the front of the hull rather then the middle. I think there is most of my problem, but since you say they all do it im just going to try to seal the hatch the best i can and enjoy. lol So far i can hold it under water for a few mins depending on depth with out hatch tape and it stays dry. Thank goodness for weather stripping. thanks for the help!

i would think you want the batteries up front in a hydro, after all they are meant to ride on the prop and two front sponsons. my ul-1 i run the batteries all they way up front as far as they go. yeah it dives at first, but then it gets on a plane and runs nicely. i use electrical tape from home depot that cost me .59 cents per roll and (knock on wood) ive flipped it numerous times and its always bone dry. same with my supervee. screw expensive 3m hatch tape bologna lol

I use black tape from the Dollar Store. 2 rolls for a buck, AND it works on a wet hull better then lowes and home depot brands lol. IMHO I had some extra weather stripping laying around from having to seal our screen doors and its super freaken sticky. I added a layer along the edge under the hatch just for extra water proofing. Its good to about 6 feet then it starts to leak where you can see bubbles. So minimal water WITH OUT black tape should mean NO water with it. Today was the first hydro run for me and it was big fun. I love the way it handles compared to my cats. I drove my BJ right after and flipped it twice in about 40 seconds after it touched water. Hydros are def the rail cars of water.

Hydros are all I have ever run and they ARE very sensitve to everything you do and adjust. I adjust my strut with a digital angle finder and will adjust in tiny increments and see dramatic changes in hull performance. Of course it also depends on how fast you are going and how fast you want to go! When you get it perfect scrbe a line on the strut so that no matter what you change in the futrure, you can go back to the "perfect" adjustment you had. It takes alot of time to find it. Trust me when you run your boat enough you will be able to drive it with no problem and perform well......even getting it on plane.

This affects smaller hydros much more than the larger ones.

BTW, what is the digital angle finder and where did you get it?

Yeah man! I ended up getting 2 worth a damn. The handling of hydros compared to cats, really its incomparable.

Since my truck took a crap. a big nice healthy one. (Damn heads!) and the golf cart batteries are junk.
Ive been stuck in the grass for like the last 2 weeks. Even tho the ponds only about 1000 yards away. Im not walking and having to carry all this stuff! But i have considered it everyday now.

So the temptation is killer. Looking forward to going to the lake this weekend and actually being able to open up and lay into it.

Lol we have one of the best lakes in the world. Even in the winter the waters still warm. Thank you Nuclear Plant! Lol Yeah buddy a giant heated pool for fish. Im sure a few of us have enjoyed one or two lakes like this. If any one gets a chance look it up. Its---- Lake Robinson, Hartsville South Carolina.

Dont eat the fish. Ive heard tails of 3 eyed fish! lol scary! SO as winter sets in for most. Its just getting nice enough to stand outside with out sweating to death in the shade here.

Enjoy the Holidays and Happy Early Halloween!
