I am considering doing a brushless set up in a 60" Cat. I have done some different gas setups over the years and this will be my first attempt at electric. I have a fully rigged boat with out electronics. Will the hardware from the gas setup work for this attempt? It has all Speedmaster stuff in it now. I would like to use it if at all possible. I would like to push it into the 60mph range is this a realistic goal? What kind of motor, Speed controller, etc... do I need to look for? Thanks in advance.
60" Cat brushless help?

I'll start off by saying that a big cat (mono...etc) is not the best way to get your feet wet (pun intended) into FE boats.
It can be done but figure $1500 as a conservative estimate for a motor/ batteries/ controller/ chargers etc.....Grand River Marine Modellers

I realize the cost going into this project I just want to make sure it is done the right way the first time. If it is too much of a hassle doing this project in electric, then I will just slap in a 35cc QuickDraw and be done with it. I just thought it might be something different to try.Comment

First of all, welcome aboard.
I agree, that is potentially one of the most ambitious first electric build I have ever seen. It is usually not attempted until well down the path of electric builds.
doby's quote is ONCE you have worked out all the bugs and does not include any blown electric "lessons" that might have occurred along the way. If I were you, I would get me a smaller "model" of your 5 footer, and set it up how you want to set up the big one (i.e., single vs twin motors). Then at the same time scour this site and others for info on motors/escs on big cats... its expensive even when you know what you are doing! not to mention potentially life threatening (see some of the vids where the battery bank required to get 5 feet and over 20 lbs into the 60mph range.
do you have any batteries yet? the smaller version of your big one will also help you build up experience about how to care for batteries.
Would you please post up some pics so we can assess the condition of your hardware and what hull you have? (not to mention provide us some eye candy?)"Look good doin' it"

Yeah , would be a lot of money in this thing. You Should put a gas in it .. Or get a smaller cat hull to try it first at less priceComment
