    what ESC for Pspec hydro

going to build a p spec hydro and am looking at options for a ESC. Setup will be run with a BJ-26 motor. I have the matching proboat ESc and also a hacker 70 (probably not high enough amp's). Looking for options as I am concerned that the proboat is just physically too big.

a turnigy marine 120 is on the swap shop now... those are a great esc and I believe a little smaller then a swordfish 120... but on that end steves swordfishes are down to $69 both should be a little smaller then the bj esc... ideally the old barracuda would work well if you need room... but its a tall order finding one... are hydra 120's too big?

Campbell 30".............I'm waiting for that one to come out. I've been saving up for the release. I use the aquastar 120 ( swordfish 120 ) and I dont like the lagged throttle response. They hold up fine though. Never had any luck with the seaking 120 eighter. I like the UL-1 esc's in my spec rigger. I've had some pulls of over 80 amps and keeps on ticking. I love the linear throttle response too.

Jim, the Turnigy 180 Amp esc will be the ticket and they are not expensive.

                  A 180 seems overkill for a spec BJ26 on 4s doesn't it?

                    Jim,
I have to agree. If you have space, the turnigy 180 is a great ESC. Overkill is good when it comes to ESC's. Throttle is very smooth.

doubt there is room for the 180 as this hull is a Karelsen much thinner than an older shovelnose. Is the throttle curve on the 120 as smooth as the 180?

Those controls will work fine until you join the ranks of the stator bakers.

I use the Castle ICE100 in my LSH boat. It works great, doesn't take up a lot of space, is easy to program with the link and provides excellent data logging without the hassle of all those extra wires and sensors. So far I have not needed any cooling, although I may install a small fan. It handles spikes up to 150 amps - not that difficult to get with some spec setups. It does need a Pistix, Steven carries (or did carry) all you need.

If you have thespace the BJ speedo is bullet proof. Although I moved over to a CC 60 amp high voltage.....cause I won it in a raffle.

I've had really good luck AND performance with the UL-1 speedys as well - they don't run hot, are waterproof, and two that I've been running for a long time now were originally cap-puffed, so I added external caps and they run exceptionally well with the UL-1 motor and BJ 1500 KV motor. I just substituted a Turnigy 120 set at 15 deg advance to the UL-1 powered FE 30 to compare to the UL-1 speedy but won't be able to test this weekend 'cause them pesky straightline guys are taking over the lake [ and some boat-laden hairy FE go-faster dude from NorCal will be shacking up at the Chalet d'Properchopper this weekend].

Hey Doug, my shrink says I'm a "joiner", how do I join the stator baker ranks ; Oh wait... never mind ...
