    Tenshock mono1 flood chambers

    Hi,
I have a tenshock mono1 project (see "The Real Thing" builld thread), and I noticed something interesting---

This hull has a small flood chamber, and I've read threads which indicate that one needs to add weights in order to get the boat to roll over. I'm working on tuning this build, and at the moment the hull will not roll over in the bath tub (have not added weights).

I took her out to the lake last week to do some test runs. During one run, the hull flipped, and there she was, stranded. The flood chamber filled and she was in the water with the edge of the hull 90 degrees out of the water. I noticed that even while laying on the side, the prop was still at the waterline, so I hit the gas... the forward thrust was enough to push the hull the rest of the way over!

So, no weights are necessary on this build... Something to think about when working with monos with smaller flood chambers.

Yes, I have had the same experience, sometimes torque is your friend...

That's the way they are supposed to work! IF it won't roll up on it's side, then you have to add weights. Otherwise, you're good to go!

It's not the motor's torque, its just that the bottom of the hull has more lift than the deck does by a considerable margin, if you can get it onto either side with sufficient forward motion it will fully right itself.

Yes, I know about how the roll over works(I have a Triton and Arowana), just comenting that a little bit of motion gets them over if you do not have it set up right. Hey, Sailr let me know how much you want for the ten shock mono. I might be interested. Where can you purchase them new with a flood chamber??

I want $220 shipped without esc.

It is an expensive boat. If we had stocked them, the retail would have been $499. They sell a carbon fiber version for 349 Euros here:

Not sure how much shipping would be from Germany!

Wow, those are expensive. I am looking for something that costs less since these are just playing around boats for my son and I. We are having a good time with racing the Arowana boats with flood chambers. I am amazed at the speed you can get with 2s in a small boat. It also helps when you can use one battery per run, we went through 8 batteries together yesterday and had a great time.

$220 shipped seems like a very good deal indeed, you say -ESC what else is included? motor, servo, prop? or just hull and hardware? if it has a tenshock 2 pole 15 series motor included (Lehner copy) then its a stupidly good deal at that price.

With the stepped Hull it will be even quicker than the Arowana with the same power.

The boat is totally complete except for an esc. Yes, it has the tenshock 2 pole 15 series motor. The esc that was in it burned up so the inside is a bit smoky but not too bad.
