first legit FE build, need advice from the masters

hello all, new to the forum not to boating.

i picked up an r2 hobbies 33" cat and decided to build an FE.

my main question lies with what to power it with? i have a pair of 3s 5400mah packs that are 20c constant 35 burst.
i also have a neu 1515 2200kv motor at my disposal.

heres where i get confused, would it be better to find an esc that will hold up to the 1515 on 6s? or to buy a feigao 14xl 1260kv and a swordfish 120?

ive already removed the crap factory wooden motor/servo tray in favor of a glassed in aluminum mount and aluminum servo mount.

i had planned to run an x440/3 prop to get started as i already have one from another project.

ive also installed a pair of water pickups in the sponsons so that the esc can have 2 of its own water supplies and i have a 3rd pickup in the rudder for the motor.

all of my boating experience is with large gas so all help is appreciated.
if there are any details i left out that are needed to make a good decision as to motor/esc please ask i will offer any info i can about the boat/goals of the build

also as a side note id like to get this boat to make the traxxas titans look silly as far as top speed is concerned. now i know what your thinking.......the new guy has no idea how fast a 60mph boat really is...........my gas rigger powered by a QD35 thinks i should be able to pull this off so hopefully you guys can help

thank you in advance for any and all help.........cat

I don't think there is an esc in existance that will hold up for long with a 1515/1y on 6s. That motor is a 4s motor, 5s if you really want to push things.
For the most part we target an RPM of around 30,000. I would think a 33'' cat is a bit big for 3s, so you would want to find the right motor (around 1,350kv) on 6s if you want to use those packs. I'm sure other guys will jump in and give you specific motor choices.

You may be better off using the 1515/1y and getting new 4s packs with a higher c-rating. You would want to run 4s2p with packs that are 30c+ constant.

You wouldnt want to run that motor on 6s, and I personally wouldnt let a Neu motor sit just to buy a feigao. You COULD run that motor on 3s2p with a prop up. Those motors actually run pretty well on 3s but to get big speed you need to go 4s. 6s will cook pretty much any esc you put on it and the motor as well in the long run.
I ran a 1600kv motor on 6s in my 34" cat and pulled 209A with a s225. The 2200kv would be an esc killer for sure on 6s.

The extra water pickups are cool but remember that anything you put in the water is drag and will cost you speed. You will be surprised at the amount of spray you will get from something as small as a water pickup at 60mph.

Steve just started stocking Leopard 4082 motors and the 1500kv version would be killer on 6s if you are bound and determined to run 6s. I would reccomend 4 of those batteries for 6s though, not 2. Those two batteries alone in series will not support the kind of speed you are looking for.

the 1500kv 4082 looks pretty nice, what would be a good esc to look at with that motor to get me headed towards my goals?

Good luck finding a good ESC. I haven't found one yet. (OK, I'll finish my coffee before I fulminate any more.)

I have a nice Castle HV240 with a nice extra cap board that attaches/detatches with 5.5mm bullets.... also has "real" castle 5.5mm bullets on batt side and Castle 8mm bullets on motor side.... I have someone on it but he has been dragging his feet.... will let go for $280 shipped.... last pic shows how easy the extra cap board detatches if your model doensn't have room in the hull for it...
