Water Cooling Jacket on 700 Motor

In the online instructions for putting a cooling jacket on a 700 motor, it shows leaving the torque ring on and then sealing the gap the torque ring creates.

Why can't you just remove the torque ring? That way there would be no gap to leak. To be honest, I don't know what the torque ring does.

Jim removing the ring would hurt the motors performence. The ring enhances the magnetic field and supplies well "more torque". I have used the jacket on the 700 and it's very simple to fill the gap.

Also if the torque ring were removed the jacket might not have a tight enough fit and would leak. Just seal the gap in the torque ring with silicon.
