Just thought I would say that. Buying these at $100-$200 a pop is getting old.

I had a solder joint came loose on my Turnigy 180a while running and hooked it up today and no throttle. I've definitely gotten better at soldering since I did that connection, but not sure why it's not working since it never got under water - must have killed it due to the connection not being solid.

I've read that motors and ESC's will quit together many times. I feel like I'm being careful, just seems like they are too delicate to me. My motor is fine in this situation - I'm running a Neu 1515 1.5y and 6S.

Maybe I should bust out the $250 for a Castle ESC, but I can't see spending anymore than $120.

I just ordered a Seaking 180a from OSE. oh well....

I have been running CC since I have started racing boats, I've owned 20-25 CC escs and have had 1 failure which was replaced by Castle in 10 days. I can't say the same for Turnigies. I have tried 4 of them and never got more then 1 Lap. 2 burnt on 1st plug in. I had to file a protest with MY CC company to get the charges reversed as HK would do nothing about it. I am sold on Castles. To me they are well worth the few extra bucks, Plus the tech line is just a phone call away. JMO

I usually run a Octura X642, but this time ran a new Prather P225.

Funny. I've had eight Seaking/Turnigy 180's, and never a problem. In fact, I've never smoked an esc that didn't have water damage. That being ANY brand. I run within the esc's specs. Never at the max ratings. I never use the internal bec either. For me, I'll spend less than half, and run the Seakings.

Never at the max ratings. I never use the internal bec either. For me, I'll spend less than half, and run the Seakings.

I have destroyed my fair share by being stupid...run all your ecs at least 75% of their stated specs.

Keep in mind that's an aggressive setup. Its setup to run 60mph. Most problems can be resolved by running slower. Not always ideal. But it does make coming home from the pond a bit more fun. Running at 45-50 is less problematic and you will also spend less time chasing a flipped over or dead boat.

I currently have 6 turnigy/seaking 180's.... never smoked one ever, in fact never had a problem with one ever.... Are you running a Rxr Pack???? just a thought.... cant remember if when I sold you the boat it had the reciever wire removed or not? just a thought... if you are running a reciever pack make sure its in proper working order.... sounds like the servo operates? hmmm....

also I have run 6s with these 1515 1.5y's for soooooooo many runs with 0 issues... and done so with even castle lv120's!!!

I would not run the carbon props at that high of an rpm.

Didn't you smoke one in the Rico?

All esc's will smoke when not ran within it's limits. I agree that the T180's are good esc though. Castle's customer service is second to none for me.

I bought the Rico for my buddy and yes, it burned up because i got wet. He's got T180 and it's working well.

No the receiver wire is not removed on this one. I've trouble shot it as bad by trying another T180. When I turn it on no beeps or anything, but the rudder channel still works.
