ten day air mail from HK

Just thought I'd share this. Ordered two small items , under 90 bucks total from HK on 10/5 - wasn't in a hurry so instead of $ 18.99 EMS chose air mail - $ 6.99. Order confirmation said up to 45 days. Got the package today in Cali. - 10/15. Came as a "gift" from a private person & was declared way under actual price, but hey, I'm good with saving the shipping. Just FYI.

I've gotten packages from H/K with "happy Birthday" stickers on the package before. Wasn't my birthday. Kinda strange.

Do you think it has something to do with the shipping and deterring someone from doing a random check on a package leaving or entering the country that may be carrying something potentially dangerous? Like a lipo battery???

Customs open whatever they choose.. no privacy there... gifts only attract customs duty if over a certain $ value ( thus the understated content )

My Postoffice lady laughs when she hands me yet another gift package from Asia.. your family must breed like rabbits !

They still are shipping Lipos through Singapore Post. They have a Private courier that takes it from HK to Singapore. The also fudge the value way down. Usually it would take three-four days ems through HK, But through Singapore it took exactly one week. Fuuny thing was it bypassed Hawaii and went to San Fran then here. Usually from HK it goes directly to Oahu customs. Anyway still pretty good considering howmuch traveling it took.
