      Swans here too !
On my local water I usually only have 2 pair of swans and the rest are on the main lake, in the last few weesk about a dozen more of the feathered mafia have come over and are insanly stupid.
I try to run a small cat for a few laps so they get the cue to move to the side and watch but no, they just sit in the middle looking confussed and angry.

Then there are the ducks, really I like ducks especially with apricots and orange sauce, but these ones are special. The mums gather thier young and wait until you do one good pass with a rigger and as soon as I turn to do a back up pass she decides to head for the other side with 8 young ones in line astern pattern.

I do really like aquatic life as you can eat most of it but these birds in spring just annoy me.

Other than that I have a good peice of water and get on well with the flappy boat guys who come as I am about to leave at 9.30am.

Graham Dogget once told me of a 1/8 gas hydro that hit a swan while ther was a big crowd there, short story is the boat was near buggered and the rescue dinghy was sent out for the crew to fininsh off the crippled swan, they all felt real bad as we would.
I agree that most of us would be banned if we were seen to even harass the birds let alone hit or injure or god forbid kill one.

I just take it easy and appreciate the water is their house.

I can be on the opposite end of the quarry running my boat and one will surface just to see what all that noise is about...

We have more fisherman then anything up here in Vermont.... heck besides R/C boating all there is to do is Fish and Hunt...lol...

anyway sometimes I will bring a boat to a lake or ponds boat ramp and people will be fishing.... they all like to give you bad looks and act disgruntled.... soooo... last year I called the Vermont Fish and Game and asked if I was legit running my boats... I talked to them and asked every question I could think of and they responded with:
"the lakes and ponds are for everyones enjoyment.... the only thing we ask is you don't get in the way of trying to load and unload their boats.... otherwise as long as they boats aren't 2 stroke gas engines feel free to use your models" he also said "if people are giving you grief as they are fishing by the boat launches let them know their are other places to fish on the pond other then where they can cast out from a nice flat surface close to the cooler in their car at the boat launch".... I got a kick out of that!!
Anyhow I try and be respectful of people fishing... I don't just throw my boat in front of them.... but still I am going to use my boats wether people are fishing or not.... they are the "sportsmans"..... and being that they can walk a little ways to find a better fishing spot....

Here are a couple pics on the top of a couple mountains here in Vermont.... me and the misses hike alot.....these are our two different hikes during the last two weekends its foilage season here in Vt. gents, first Two pics are on top of "Camels Hump".. the last three pics are of "Mount Hungar" .... Oh and our "fearless helper" (can you tell we have no kids... we have more pictures of our dog!!) ....Camels hump is alot higher but Mount Hungar is a rugged hike though its not all that high..... if you guys have never visisted Vermont.... put it on your list.... and we have lots of WATER :)....

                burnt motor...
                burnt esc...
                burnt batteries...

and my credit card statement in a month I made consequent RC related purchases. The guilt last several days and weeks until I find something else I "must" have.....

But I am at Groton EVERY 4th of July... at Jake Burrells camp... they set the fireworks off at the next camp down from his.... me and the misses go there and PARTY :) I had my boats there this last year and the year before.... you might have heard a big gas Proboat Miss Budwieser? I also had my Mean Machine and a few other boats with me...lol.....

I know just which cottage you are at.... we go on a cruise along the lake all the time.... no beer involved.... honest...lol.... I know the party is just outside of Boston by the Airport.... its a US air Party..... My misses was a flight attendant out of Boston for US Air during 9/11.... she lost a few friends, so her other flight attendant friends still get together for a halloween bash every year.... its fun....

I HATE the fact that my local lake has been drained to allow repairs to the dam that creates it. Got another 12+ months before they let it fill back up, so I'm stuck doing circles in the duck pond!!
Do or do not, there is no try!!!!!
